Our heads are spinning. We can’t become accustomed to this. The enormity of the scandals, and the frequency of the misdeeds makes them naturally shrink in our subconscious. But we hope and pray that you are paying close attention. This all will become important later.
As for this week, there’s no other way to spin it. It was horrifically bad for Donald Trump. The Washington Post has posted an analysis piece tonight you need to read.
It’s a good wide shot that looks at three illegal acts that may have helped Donald Trump win the presidency. It begins with the hush money.
- “Trump’s longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen, admitted under oath to having been instructed by Trump to work with David Pecker, chairman and chief executive of American Media Inc., to arrange a payment to former Playboy model Karen McDougal. He also admitted to having been instructed by Trump to pay off adult-film actress Stormy Daniels. Both payments involved felony violations of campaign finance law.”
- “The hackers. Last month, special counsel Robert S. Mueller III obtained an indictment against 12 Russians believed to work for the country’s Main Intelligence Directorate, or GRU. It is this team that is believed to have accessed the Democratic National Committee’s network and to have hacked into the email account of Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman. In June 2016, some of those files were passed to WikiLeaks, which released two sets of stolen documents, in July and October.”
- “The trolls. In February, Mueller’s team obtained indictments against 13 Russians who worked for an organization called the Internet Research Agency. It was this team that allegedly created social media accounts meant to roil the discourse around the election. Several members of the organization visited the United States before the election. They also allegedly paid Americans to unwittingly make signs or impersonate Clinton at campaign events.”
And there are so many other things we just don’t know. Such as the real purpose of the now infamous Trump Tower meeting with Don Jr. and several Russians.
But no doubt this week was a major turning point. Besides Cohen, remember the name Allen Weisselberg. More than Michael Cohen, Weisselberg had a key role in Trump, Inc. He was the CFO and today it was reported that he’s been granted immunity by federal prosecutors from the southern district of New York. That is huge. He knows Trump’s business, inside and out.
"Weisselberg granted immunity in Cohen investigation"
This is a VERY big deal. Weisselburg is in reality what a lot of people thought Cohen was but isn't – the guy who knows it all.https://t.co/x9Wu5vbeZC

Also granted immunity was David Pecker, the CEO of America Media, the parent company of The National Enquirer.
This is far, far from over.
