Today the United States reached a grim milestone, more than 80,000 deaths related to coronavirus. And even with that number expected to significantly rise over the next few months, today Donald Trump declared, “America has risen to the task. We have met the moment. We have prevailed.”
Trump, acting like a pandemic that's already killed 80,000 Americans and is projected to kill tens of thousands of more, is over: "We have met the moment and we have prevailed." pic.twitter.com/q2scSWf2cN

Imagine believing that prevailing is 81,000 Americans dead in 2 months, and 33.5 million jobs lost.

Trump later tried to backtrack on the comment saying that when he said “we have prevailed” he was referring to testing. He also remarked that the U.S. had “developed a testing capacity unmatched and unraveled anywhere in the world and it’s not even close.” A remark that was quickly fact-checked.
Confronted on his assertion that "we have prevailed," Trump insists that he was referring to testing.

Trump then says again, falsely: "If people want to get tested, they get tested." He then adds: "But for the most part, they shouldn't want to get tested."
