A California valedictorian went scorched-earth. Nataly Buhr, who attended San Ysidro High School near San Diego, began with the traditional thank you’s but quickly veered off when she blasted some of the school staff. The teenager accused one teacher of being “regularly intoxicated during class this year.” And she had this message for her counselor:
“To my counselor, thank you for letting me fend for myself – you were always unavailable. You expressed to me your joy in having one of your students be valedictorian when you had absolutely no role in my achievements.”
Manuel Rubio, a spokesperson for Sweetwater Union High School District told The San Diego Union-Tribune, “Buhr’s speech did not follow the pre-approved version she submitted to the school prior to graduation.” Adding, “We think that the student’s speech was inappropriate and out of line.”
