If it was the first time or even the tenth time that Donald Trump took credit for a crisis he created, it would be surreal. Now, it’s just another day at 1600 Penn. Moments after caving into pressure, he posted a pre-produced video that did what we’re not sure.
Don’t worry, the Republicans, and your President, will fix it! pic.twitter.com/xsbuPzXbHj

So let’s get this straight. Trump’s own administration started the child separation policy and yet today he is trying to swoop in and play the hero.

Vox’s Ezra Klein says this is all part of a pattern with Trump.

The Trump administration on family separations:
1) It’s a deterrent, zero-tolerance.
2) It’s not happening.
3) The Bible says so.
4) We won’t apologize, they have TVs!
5) There’s nothing we can do, blame Democrats.
6) Pay for the wall, then maybe.
7) Fixed, give us credit!— Robert Reich (@RBReich) June 20, 2018
NEW VIDEO – The Trump administration changed its story on migrant family separation no fewer than FOURTEEN TIMES in one week.https://t.co/mxTV3WkMHX

What really happened today? As CNN’s Jake Tapper puts it (watch above) “Trump did something today that we have never before seen him do as President, he surrendered.”
And what else did he do today? We still don’t exactly know, but what we do know is that he didn’t “fix” the immigration issue.
This Executive Order is a sham. By not ending zero tolerance, President Trump is keeping families in jail. Children in jail.
All he’s done is trade one form of child abuse for another. https://t.co/sjobgbP9V4

The president’s order does not solve this problem. It does nothing to reunify the 2,300 children who have been taken from their parents. pic.twitter.com/jo2knb8eT8

Shame on you, @realDonaldTrump. Issuing an EO that instead of separating children and parents who are seeking asylum, you will detain them together indefinitely is NOT a solution. This is despicable especially doing so on #WorldRefugeeDay2018. #FamiliesBelongTogether
