Donald Trump sat down with former Celebrity Apprentice winner Piers Morgan for an interview on Good Morning Britain. It was the only on-camera interview the president did while in England. Topics ranged from climate change to Brexit to Meghan Markle. Some of the more newsworthy moments though were military-related.
Trump was asked about the controversy over his excuse to get out serving in the military. Despite claiming bone spurs at the time, he told Morgan he actually would have liked to have served “I would not have minded that at all. I would have been honored.” He then remarked,“I think I make up for it now.”
He also still found time to bash someone who did serve, John McCain.

Despite Trump and Morgan having a very friendly relationship, the interviewer did challenge him a few times. Once instance came as Morgan asked Trump why he is against allowing transgender people to serve in the military. Trump said, “they take massive amounts of drugs.” He then said, “people are going in and then asking for the operation and the operation is $200,000, $250,000.”
'You have to have a standard and you have to stick by that standard.'
