A sad announcement from the First family today as we learn their 13-year-old German Shepherd has passed away. Jill Biden wrote, “RIP to our sweet, good boy, Champ. We will miss you always.” A statement from the couple read:
“He was our constant, cherished companion during the last 13 years and was adored by the entire Biden family. Even as Champ’s strength waned in his last months, when we came into a room, he would immediately pull himself up, his tail always wagging, and nuzzle us for an ear scratch or a belly rub.”

Champ joined the Biden family right before Joe Biden became vice president back in 2008. More recently, the Bidens adopted a second German Shepherd named Major from a shelter.
The Biden’s dogs were the first in the White House since the Obama years. MSNBC covered it above.
Boy, Champ lived a great life. From 8 years in the VP's residence to the White House. He was always a loyal companion to @POTUS and @FLOTUS.
Rest easy old boy. You will be missed by a nation of followers. pic.twitter.com/aSCWnbvdXc
