Rep. Adam Kinzinger is trying to remind the Republican party of what they used to be, and what they’ve become. He has launched a new PAC called “Country First.” The Illinois Republican hasn’t been shy about condemning Donald Trump and other Republicans for pushing conspiracy theories about the election. He voted to impeach Trump last month and says he’s been concerned with how people on his side of the aisle now “peddle darkness and division.” In a six-minute video announcing the mission of his PAC (watch above), Kinzinger says “today’s Republican party is not the one I joined:”
“The Republican Party has lost its way. If we are to lead again, we need to muster the courage to remember who we are… Republicans must say enough is enough. It’s time to unplug the outrage machine, reject the politics of personality, and cast aside the conspiracy theories and the rage… the party of first principles must one against put principles first.”
Kinzinger points out that in order for the GOP to move forward they have to detach themselves from Trump and people like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
