A 1999 party anthem got a pro-vaccine remix when rapper Juvenile transformed “Back that Thang Up” into “Vax that Thang Up.” (Watch music video above).
The song is part of a new campaign by BLK, a dating app that is encouraging safety in the COVID-19 dating era.
Juvenile sings, “Before you get a date, yeah/you got to wait, yeah/gotta vaccinate, yeah/get it straight, yeah.” In the music video, he flaunts vaccination cards the way many rappers flaunt hundred dollar bills.
“When we get the shot, we gonna be romancing/Girl you’re a beauty queen, after quarantine/We could meet up at the spot and do the thang,” adds rapper Mannie Fresh.
“I just wanted to do something positive for my people,” Juvenile said in a statement. “We don’t know what we’re facing right now but we really do all need to be vaccinated so we can continue to do our thing and survive.”
I didn’t know much I needed this until I saw it #VaxThatThangUp
