The New York Times points out, “The gruesome, hate-filled shootings in Atlanta thrust Mr. Biden into the middle of a national struggle to confront the spasm of racially motivated violence from people angry about the coronavirus pandemic that has killed more than a half-million people and shut the country down.”
Biden: "Too many Asian Americans have been walking up and down the streets and worrying. Waking up each morning the past year feeling their safety and the safety of their loved ones are stake. They've been attacked, blamed, scapegoated and harassed." https://t.co/W5hqB2gywe pic.twitter.com/6JL5e7nHFA

During my first week, I signed a memorandum to condemn and combat racism against the AAPI community. Now, it’s time for Congress to take further action with the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act — because everyone deserves to live their lives with safety, dignity, and respect.

Thank you to @POTUS for standing up to hate.
The former President used racist phrases like Kung Flu. That’s one reason he lost. The Asian American community, which more than doubled since 2000, voted overwhelmingly for Biden. AAPI voters are going to fight back against racists. https://t.co/cDF4kzx6H9
