President Biden Visits Wounded Soldiers & Vaccine Center At Walter Reed

President Joe Biden left the White House today for the first time since taking office nine days ago to visit wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center.

ABC News reports:

Biden has a long and personal history with the hospital, which treats thousands of military service members, veterans and their families. His son Beau, who served as a major in the Delaware Army National Guard, died there in 2015 after a long battle with brain cancer.

While there the President said:

“You’ve done a great deal for family. My son, Beau, after a year in Iraq, came back with stage 4 glioblastoma. You took care of him in his final days with great grace and dignity… and in the old Walter Reed, I spent six months with a couple cranial aneurysms… you saved my life here.”

The president also visited the facility’s vaccine center remarking, “We’re going to make sure everybody has enough. We’re going to get the supply up, nationwide.”
