Opinion: WH Press Secretary Jen Psaki Masterfully Handles Fox News’ Peter Doocy

Peter Doocy’s job seems to be trying to play the gotcha game with White House press secretary Jen Psaki. The Fox News White House correspondent consistently asks questions that appear aimed at tripping up Psaki. Time and again though, she doesn’t bite. Case in point today, Doocy challenged Psaki on the origins of COVID. He asked, “Why isn’t President Biden pushing for more access, more information to get to the bottom of what happened?”

Mediaite explains, “The remarks came in response to a question… about a newly disclosed intelligence report that three researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology were hospitalized in November 2019 with symptoms consistent with Covid-19. The country’s government did not inform the World Health Organization of the cases. That organization first reported cases of “viral pneumonia” circulating in China on December 31, more than a month later.

After Psaki’s initial reply that they have repeatedly asked WHO for an “evaluation of the pandemic’s origins that is free from interference or politicization,” Doocy sarcastically followed up by asking, “With 589,920 dead Americans, at what point does president Joe Biden say we don’t want to wait for the W.H.O., we don’t know what they are doing. This needs to be an American-led effort.”

Psaki then told Doocy, “I think you’re misunderstanding how this process actually works.”

Peter Doocy’s job is to try to inject right-wing propaganda into the White House press briefing, and every day he is met by a brick wall named Jen Psaki who isn’t letting lies pollute the American people.

Psaki found herself responding to a similar question from Doocy just a few days ago as well.
