In the midst of what he calls “a humanitarian crisis,” Senator Ted Cruz is taking a woe-is-me approach to the situation at the border. The Texas Republican made an overnight (and over-the-top) trip to the Rio Grande this morning. He then complained on Twitter that he was yelled at and heckled by cartel members.
We encountered human traffickers & cartel members tonight, yelling at us across the Rio Grande and preparing to cross. #BidenBorderCrisis pic.twitter.com/yXl3AyUIPd

Reactions to the video ranged from horrified to hilarious.
Huffington Post writes that while “Right-wing media hailed the videos,”numerous Twitter users — including former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) — argued that Cruz was fear-mongering about migrants trying to cross the border… Some said that the surreal, documentary-style feel of the footage was reminiscent of a ‘Saturday Night Live’ sketch.”
THANK GOD YOU SURVIVED THE HECKLING! https://t.co/IT7vQdldWy

I'm sure @tedcruz checked their Cartel credentials, right? I mean, they have credentials, or some kind of ID, or maybe a business card from Kinko's, right? https://t.co/3ichkDGTGK

Cruz’s last trip to Mexico, during the Texas freeze, didn’t do him any favors either.
Miss the bus to Cancun did you? @tedcruz https://t.co/fursMJHBms

Ted Cruz lost power in his $2M mansion for 24 hours and fled to Cancun.
Now he’s standing on the shores of the Rio Grande fear-mongering about mothers and babies looking for safety from gang violence.
