A Nashville reporter is being applauded for her interview with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Nancy Amons has been a respected reporter at WSMV for 31 years, but Pompeo resorted to insulting her when she tried to ask him fair questions. In response to one question, Pompeo actually replied, “you’ve got your facts wrong–it sounds like you’re working at least in part for the Democratic National Committee.” But Amons stayed professional and kept trying to press Pompeo for honest answers. As Dan Rather put it:
You’re a local reporter with only a few minutes to interview a powerful government official. What do you do? If you’re Nancy Amons you ask hard questions, and follow up… A master class in journalism.
