Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi addressed the #FamiliesFirst Coronavirus Response Act today (watch above). Politico writes:
Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Friday vowed to press ahead with an emergency package to address the coronavirus epidemic, with or without a formal agreement between Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and congressional Republicans.
The House is expected to vote within hours on a multi-billion package drafted by Democrats, which would guarantee access to food, affordable testing and paid time off for people whose lives are disrupted by the virus. But it’s unclear how many Republicans, if any, will back the bill.
Pelosi said: “The American people expect and deserve a coordinated, science-based, and whole of government response to keep them and their loved ones safe.” She added, “The three most important parts of this bill are testing, testing, testing.”
