Joy Reid’s new primetime show The ReidOut kicked off Monday night on MSNBC with two big guests, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton. Biden hasn’t done many live interviews, and Hillary Clinton has rarely done interviews like this over the last few years. On her debut guests, Reid remarked:
“My philosophy on booking has always been, just ask for everybody. Jesus, can he do it? Let’s just ask you never know he might say yes we started throwing out asks for people and got sort of a bounty of people tonight and the guests were really great and they were really on. they were all ready to talk.”
Reid filled the 7pm time slot after Chris Matthews resigned back in March over inappropriate remarks he made.
The ReidOut will be based in Washington. MSNBC said that the new show will draw on Reid’s experience in politics and covering the intersection of race, justice and culture.
Reid’s weekend show, AMJoy, which she has hosted since 2016, will feature a rotating series of hosts until a permanent replacement is named.
Biden made some news on the show involving a potential running mate. The former vice president said four black women are on his shortlist.
And Clinton spoke about the potential news that Trump won’t accept the results of the election if he loses.
