Congresswoman Katie Hill (D-CA) says today was the first time she has left her apartment since allegations surfaced of improper relationships with staffers. In her remarks, she called this the “last speech I will give as a member of Congress.” Hill announced her resignation earlier this week, but today she made it official. She felt compelled to leave office after what she called a “coordinated campaign” that included leaking nude photos of her. During her speech she said:
“Today, as my final act, I voted to move forward with the impeachment of Donald Trump on behalf of the women of the United States of America. We will not stand down. We will not be broken. We will not be silenced. We will rise and make tomorrow better than today. Thank you, and I will yield the balance of my time for now … but not forever.”
The entire speech is worth a few minutes of your time.

Several members of Congress are standing by Hill today as well. Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) remarked:
“I have no doubt that so many people who have survived abusive revenge porn felt seen & heard today. You have many more chapters ahead sis & I look forward to all the good you’ll do.”
