Kathy Griffin is opening up about her battle with lung cancer. Monday she had part of her lung removed. She posted this news just before her surgery, saying “Yes I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked… doctors are very optimistic.”

Variety reports, “A representative for Kathy Griffin told Variety on Monday afternoon that Griffin is out of surgery and in recovery. The surgery went well and as planned, and the comedian is resting.”
In an interview with ABC News, Griffin said this cancer diagnosis came at the end of a very difficult year, “June 2020, she was in the throes of a painkiller addiction and even attempted suicide.” She remarked, “The irony is not lost on me that, a little over a year ago, all I wanted to do was die. And now, all I wanna do is live.”
