Juror On Chauvin Trial: “It Felt Like Every Day Was A Funeral”

For the first time, we hear from one of the jurors who found Derek Chauvin guilty in the murder of George Floyd. Brandon Mitchell, juror 52, said the “historic video” taken by a young bystander had a huge impact, “It was probably the most important piece of evidence.”

It was just dark. It felt like every day was a funeral & watching someone die every day.”

“There were a few days where I was like ‘I don’t know how I’m going to make it in this next day.’ Especially me as a Black man and a larger Black man.”

Mitchell said the jury would have liked to hear from Chauvin himself:

“It probably was to his detriment that he didn’t take the stand because people were curious on what his thoughts were throughout the entire incident.”
