We are now able to hear a voice mail (listen above) that was listed as one of the ten possible instances of obstruction of justice in the Mueller report. A federal judge released the voicemail that former Trump attorney John Dowd left for Rob Kelner, a lawyer defending Michael Flynn back in 2017. The exchange sounds like Dowd is trying to warn Kelner that the former National Security Advisor shouldn’t cooperate with Robert Mueller. Here’s the exchange:
“I understand your situation, but let me see if I can’t state it in starker terms. if you have… It wouldn’t surprise me if you’ve gone on to make a deal to work with the government. … If, on the other hand, there’s information that implicates the president, then we’ve got a national security issue or maybe a national security issue… some issue we’ve got to deal with not only for the president but for the country … So we need some kind of heads up. Just for the sake of protecting all our interests if we can. … Without you having to give us any confidential information. And if it’s the former remember what we’ve always said about the President and his feelings toward Flynn, you know that still remains .…In any event let me know and I appreciate you listening ”
“I heard a federal crime. I heard obstruction, I heard witness tampering. The question is, who put John Dowd up to this? How much was President Trump involved in this? This is smoking gun evidence.” – @LawProfButler w/ @NicolleDWallace pic.twitter.com/DvTkwhFoVi
