John Oliver is seriously trolling Mike Pence. Pence’s wife and daughter created a children’s book called “Marlon Bundo: A Day in the life of the Vice President.” John Oliver’s staff took notice and wrote their own book that looks very much like the Pence family’s. It’s called “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Presents a Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo.”
From Vanity Fair: The Last Week Tonight crew specifically wrote their take on Marlon Bundo to piss off Pence, who is notoriously anti-gay rights. In a deliciously petty flourish, Oliver and Co. made their bunny book available one day before the Pence family’s—and they also gave the book a purposefully similar title and cover, all the better to accidentally ensnare unsuspecting consumers.
If you know Mike Pence’s stance on gay marriage, you get the jab. Time magazine reports, “Pence also called being gay a choice and said keeping gays from marrying was not discrimination, but an enforcement of God’s idea.”
CNN’s Jeanne Moos has her own humorous look at how the two books differ.
As for Oliver’s intention, if it was to get under the skin of the Vice President, it may work.
It definitely worked on Fox News:

The “Last Week” book is actually ahead of the Pence book in sales. Oliver’s is number one on Amazon today. Proceeds from both books go to charities.
