In the chaos that permeates every institution Donald Trump touches, it was refreshing to see a display of unity on Capitol Hill this week when the brass of America’s intelligence agencies showed that truth matters.
Tuesday FBI Director Christopher Wray, a Donald Trump appointee, destroyed the White House’s timeline on Rob Porter. And Dan Coats said, contrary to Trump’s continuing assertions, that Russia did have a hand in the 2016 election chicanery and is already at work on disrupting the 2018 midterms. MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough is declaring yesterday a victory for the institutions and a zero for the chaos in the White House. Scarborough said, in part:
“Rarely do we have such a strong contrast, given the timing that director of the FBI was testifying on that day, completely contradicting what they were saying. Look, we know from his testimony that they knew and knew for months, July at the very latest, that the man who was handling the nation’s most sensitive secrets and passing them on to the President was not cleared to do so and so now they’re putting it off to yet another bureaucratic, you know, paper pushing office.”
Morning Joe also did a fascinating look at the way the White House has tried to dance around the Porter scandal. Watch the full segment above.
