Donald Trump gives very few interviews to non-Fox News employees. So when given the rare opportunity to go one-on-one with the President you can’t lay an egg, especially after the biggest scandal of his Presidency. Any journalist in that situation has a tremendous responsibility. Basically, Jeff Glor, the anchor of The CBS Evening News, had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Glor had been given not one, but two interviews opportunities with Trump.
The first interview was done Saturday, two days before the fiasco in Finland. Part two was done today. Glor asked some solid questions, but with Trump, it’s all about the follow-ups and that is where the CBS anchor fell short.
“Good lord, what a pathetic interview,” @JeffreyToobin says of @jeffglor’s sit-down with Trump.

This is a very rare opportunity for a non-Fox, non-Huckabee anchor. Glor is not being especially tough so far.

Was that the end? CBS now has commentators on. If that was it, quite a missed opportunity, in the usual way people miss opportunities with Trump.

Jeff Glor’s interview style: Ask a question and quickly move on, like he’s working his way down a checklist. Some good questions – like where Trump gets advice – but Glor never gets answers. Why no follow-up?

PATHETIC- Honestly, I had hoped that this would be a real interview. I was sadly disappointed. I could have watched Fox for this.

The general consensus seems to be that Glor didn’t push Trump on his lies, narcissism, and backtracking. Here’s one glaring example.
Why did Jeff Glor not say “press were not allowed in that meeting” ??
