James Carville, the veteran Democratic operative, called GOP House Leader Kevin McCarthy a “pathetic human being” for his refusal to pursue a measured bipartisan investigation of the January 6th riots at the U.S. Capitol.

“Speaker Pelosi is a lot smarter and a lot tougher than Kevin McCarthy,” Carville added in an appearance on MSNBC.
Earlier this week, Pelosi rejected two of McCarthy’s picks for the congressional committee charged with investigating the insurrection, saying Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Jim Banks of Indiana “made statements and took actions that just would have been ridiculous to put them on a committee seeking the truth.”
McCarthy tried to outmaneuver Pelosi by pulling the other three Republicans he appointed to the committee. But Pelosi can still claim her effort is bipartisan. She has already enlisted one prominent Republican – Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming – and she’s considering adding Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois. Cheney and Kinzinger, both outspoken Trump critics, have resisted pressure from McCarthy in the past.
“McCarthy is not a particularly strong man or a particularly bright person,” Carville explained.
