The Obamas, the Clintons, the Carters and the Trumps. George H.W. Bush’s funeral brought this group of presidents (and first ladies) together for the first time since Donald Trump took office and it was…. awkward. Before Trump arrived the former presidents and first ladies were seen talking and even sharing a laugh…

But when Donald Trump arrived things got tense. Melania Trump shook hands with Barack and Michelle Obama as well as with Bill Clinton. Hillary Clinton gave a nod to the current first lady. But Donald Trump only extended his hand to the Obamas, Hillary Clinton never even looked his way. And Trump didn’t seem to acknowledge Jimmy Carter either.
As Fox’s Chris Wallace said, “When President Trump and Melania Trump came to the front row it was as if a chill had descended on that front row. You had seen a lot of chatty talk between the Clintons and the Obamas, the Carters. But when Trump sat down the greeting that he was given by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama was about as cold, as cool as it could have been.”
