Donald Trump and his allies have gone to great lengths to avoid condemning white supremacy. It would be so easy to just definitively say “We condone white supremacy and all forms of racism,” but alas it was hard for the words to come off their lips. The White House press secretary tried her best to dance around it during the briefing on Thursday, but a Fox News reporter of all people just couldn’t take it anymore. John Roberts confronted Kayleigh McEnany during the briefing but clearly became frustrated when she wouldn’t issue a condemnation. Then during a live appearance after the briefing, he had this message:
“Stop deflecting, stop blaming the media…I’m tired of it.”

It seems Trump heard what Roberts had to say. He referenced it on Fox News before finally telling Sean Hannity he condemns white supremacy.

Trump also condemned the Proud Boys, two days after telling them to “stand back and standby.”
