Age is just a number. Once upon a time, women over 50 struggled to find great success. But take a look around today. Women over 50 are CEOs, high-powered attorneys, top doctors, and, yes, they can be Speaker of the House and Vice President of the United States. Mika Brzezinski has partnered with Forbes magazine for a “Know Your Value’s 50 over 50 list.” The MSNBC anchor writes:
Women in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond are unstoppable. Just look at Vice President Kamala Harris… Harris is kicking off our inaugural list, highlighting 50 incredible women over 50 who are shattering age and gender norms.
One of the things Harris was asked to address is how she is the “United States’s first female, Black & Asian-American vice president:”
“My mother had many sayings and one of them she would often say was Kamala you may be the first to do many things, make sure you aren’t the last.”
.@VP: “There is still so much we need to do to encourage girls and women of every age to know and internalize their capacity…their strength and their gift…and not to be burdened by other people’s limited views of their capacity based on who has historically done what.” @Forbes pic.twitter.com/Gdmyoz3vnB

First Lady Jill Biden declined to be on the list because she didn’t want to take the spot from another woman.
