Dr. Anthony Fauci is being honored today, his 80th birthday. Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser even declared it “Dr. Anthony S. Fauci Day.”

The nation’s leading infectious disease doctor also got a surprise birthday serenade when he left his office at the National Institutes of Health Wednesday night.
The Today Show writes:
Fauci, whose father lived to be 97, has worked every day since January but will take some time on Thursday to celebrate his milestone birthday with his wife of 35 years, Christine Grady.
He told the Washington Post he normally celebrates his birthday and Christmas Eve with an Italian dinner at the home of his sister in Alexandria, Virginia. In better days, he also marks the holiday by making timpano, an Italian pasta cake, with his family.
So it’s Dr. Fauci’s birthday. While he’s still a kid by my standards, he’s more than earned our respect and attention. I don’t know what he wants for this occasion but I imagine one thing would be for all of us to respect the damn science and defeat this horrid plague.
