Mahogany Books, a Black-owned bookstore in Washington D.C., got a special surprise visit from an author whose book they were reading, but this wasn’t just any author. Former President Barack Obama signed on to surprise the Very Smart Brothas Book Club, while they were discussing Obama’s book, “A Promised Land.” Obama told the group he showed up as a way to show support for African-American bookstores:
“We very much feel invested in all of your success and I’ll look forward to stopping by Mahogony in person sometime in the future.”
