Former President Barack Obama did his best today to try to sway some Florida voters who might still be undecided. He rallied for Senator Bill Nelson to retain his senate seat, to elect Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum as Governor and for Donna Shalala to take over the Miami-area congressional seat currently occupied by Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.
The Miami New Times reports:
“Crowds stood outside for hours and then packed Ice Palace Studios while an all-star cast of Florida candidates— from Congressional hopeful Donna Shalala to national committee chairperson Tom Perez to gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum and Senate incumbent Bill Nelson — addressed the crowd.”
The Miami Herald adds:
“He never mentioned him by name, but former President Barack Obama made it clear Friday at a rally in Miami’s Overtown that by electing Andrew Gillum governor of Florida, the state can deliver a blow to President Donald Trump.”
