While some people are calling on Saturday Night Live to fire new cast member Shane Gillis, Andrew Yang has a different point of view. Gillis used racial slurs and stereotypes in reference to the presidential candidate (and other Asians). But while Yang says, “I prefer comedy that makes people think and doesn’t take cheap shots,” he also remarked:
For the record, I do not think he should lose his job. We would benefit from being more forgiving rather than punitive. We are all human.
Take a look at what else Yang told Jake Tapper about this.
Andrew Yang on 'SNL' cast member's use of racial slurs: "I've experienced a lot of anti-Asian racism throughout my upbringing. And it hurts." Yang adds that he also believes the country has become too "punitive and vindictive about remarks that people find offensive." #CNNSOTU pic.twitter.com/JcQVyguOcV

Yang also said he would sit down with Gillis and talk to him. No word on whether Gillis will take up on that offer.
