For the first time, we are hearing from the executive assistant who filed a criminal complaint against Governor Andrew Cuomo. In an exclusive interview with CBS News (watch above) Brittany Commisso says, “What he did to me was a crime. He broke the law.” The 33-year-old says she filed the complaint because “the governor needs to be held accountable.” The Albany County Sheriff’s office is currently investigating her complaint.

CBS writes:

Commisso is one of 11 women referenced in a scathing report from New York State Attorney General Letitia James that alleged Cuomo sexually harassed multiple women and violated state and federal law. Cuomo has denied any wrongdoing. Until now, Commisso had remained anonymous, referred to only as “Executive Assistant #1” in the report.

Commisso, who still works for the governor, told CBS’s Jericka Duncan, “I believe he groped me, he touched me, not only once, but twice.”

“At one point there was a hug and when he went to go kiss me on the cheek, he quickly turns his head & he kissed me on the lips.”

She says she never complained because she was intimidated, “I didn’t say anything this whole time. People don’t understand that this is the Governor of the state of New York, there are troopers that are outside of the mansions… they are not there to protect me, they are there to protect him.”

In an interview with the Times Union, “Commisso reiterated that the governor has top aides who serve as his “enablers” and will protect him at seemingly any cost from allegations of misconduct — including those lodged by the 10 other women who have accused him of sexual harassment.”

“I know that, obviously, the governor has to say something to defend himself,” Commisso said. “And if that’s what he feels like … he needs to say and that’s what he believes, then I’m sorry. Because I know the truth. … I lived it. And why would I make something like that up? I would have nothing to gain from that. … It doesn’t make any sense. But all I know is that he knows what he did to me.”

The governor’s top aide, Melissa DeRosa, resigned late Sunday. The woman who many people will recognize from Cuomo’s COVID briefings said, “Personally, the past two years have been emotionally and mentally trying.” She didn’t specifically mention the governor in her resignation statement.

According to Cuomo’s attorney, the governor will be making another statement soon about the allegations against him. In the meantime, he has refused to resign. The New York State Assembly is considering impeachment articles against him.
