Another Senator joins the race for the White House. Amy Klobuchar made the announcement as heavy snow fell in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Despite the below freezing temperatures, she was able to draw a crowd to watch as she kicked off her campaign. Here’s part of what she said:
“I am running for this job for every person who wants their work recognized and rewarded. I am running for every parent who wants a better world for their kids. I’m running for every student who wants a good education. for every senior who wants affordable prescription drugs. For every worker, farmer, dreamer, and builder, I am running for every American. I am running for you. And I promise you this, as your president, I will look you in the eye. I will tell you what I think. I will focus on getting things done. That’s what I’ve done my whole life, and no matter what, I’ll lead from the heart.”
We are all tired of the shutdowns and the showdowns, the gridlock and the grandstanding.

As for the stories that have been written over the past few days about Klobuchar being tough to work for, Huffington Post writes:
Shortly after announcing her presidential bid on Sunday, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) offered a defense against the recent reports that she has consistently mistreated members of her staff.
“Yes, I can be tough, and yes I can push people,” Klobuchar told reporters following her rally at Minneapolis’ Boom Island Park. “I have high expectations for myself, I have high expectations for the people that work for me, but I have high expectations for this country.”
She added: “In the end, there are so many great stories of our staff that have been with me for years.”
