Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spent the weekend in Texas raising money for relief efforts in the state. The New York Congresswoman, who has no connection to the Lone Star State, commented:
“When disaster strikes, this is not just an issue for Texans; this is an issue for our entire country. And our whole country needs to come and rally together behind the needs of Texans all across this state. That’s the New York spirit, that’s the Texas spirit, and that’s the American spirit.”
One last update (I think!): We just hit $5 million raised for Texans across the state.
Thank you ALL for your collective action when people need it most.
Charity can’t replace policy, but solidarity is how we’ll face climate change and build a better world. 💪🏽🌎

AOC visited the Houston Food Bank over the weekend. It’s among 12 organizations that will receive the money she helped bring in. The 31-year-old is among many prominent Democrats raising money to help those suffering. Watch the video above from KHOU-TV.
Thank you for helping us raise $1 million so far to assist Texans with food, shelter and water! https://t.co/UFZWzpuBpW

In the absence of leadership at the state level in Texas, people across the country have stepped up to help.
We’ve raised more than $400,000 to help @FeedingTexas distribute food and water. Help us reach our $500K goal today: https://t.co/vPDXxMArhj pic.twitter.com/NL2fGleSQT
