The leaders of the G7 came together Friday to kick off the summer in Carbis Bay, England. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson welcomed President Joe Biden, as well as leaders from Germany, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, and the European Union.
It’s the first official day of the G7 Summit here in the United Kingdom. I’m looking forward to reinforcing our commitment to multilateralism and working with our allies and partners to build a more fair and inclusive global economy.
Let’s get to work.

AXIOS reports, “In addition to plans for global efforts to combat COVID-19, the first in-person gathering of G7 leaders since the pandemic began is anticipated to bring discussions about climate change and confronting Russia and China, among other topics.”
Many people are pointing out how this G7 seems much more amicable than the summits attended by former President Donald Trump.

It’s notable how much happier and more relaxed the G7 leaders look without Trump there. He really was a global embarrassment. Still boggles my mind that so many people knew his history, heard him talk, read his tweets and thought yeah: make him the president of the United States.

Biden certainly seemed to be getting along well with his international counterparts.
“Everybody in the water,” Biden joked to his fellow leaders at the G7 family photo on the oceanfront in Carbis Bay, England.
