An explosion destroyed parts of a strip mall in Plantation, Florida leaving 21 people injured. Authorities say two of the injuries are serious. While the cause is under investigation it was believed to potentially be related to a gas line. NBC Miami reports:
An L.A. Fitness employee told NBC 6 she smelled gas earlier in the morning prior to the explosion.
An employee at a nearby restaurant at the time of the incident told NBC 6 the explosion “obliterated” the building.
Dozens of firefighters responded and could be seen picking through the rubble with dogs sniffing through the debris.

A witness told the ABC affiliate in South Florida, “It just looks like an apocalypse… It’s just crazy what natural gas can do, or just gas in general. I mean, it’s flattened a whole strip plaza.”
