We have now learned 10 people were killed, including a police officer, during a mass shooting Monday afternoon at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado.
The incident, the second mass shooting in the U.S. in the past week, happened just before 3 pm local time at the King Soopers Supermarket in Boulder. Officers from local, state, and federal agencies responded within minutes and quickly entered the store. During a late-evening press conference, Chief Maris Herold of the Boulder Police Department fought back tears as she described the heroic actions of Officer Eric Talley, an 11-year veteran of the department who died while responding to 911 calls to the scene.

A “person of interest,” who could be the suspected shooter, is in custody, according to Boulder Police Commander Kerry Yamaguchi. That suspect was hurt at the scene and transported to a local hospital for treatment. It is not clear if the suspect is the same man who was caught on video earlier being led away by officers in handcuffs, bleeding from an injury.
