District court judge nominee Matthew Petersen has taken his name out of consideration. In a letter to Donald Trump, Petersen wrote that his “nomination has become a distraction.” During questioning by the Senate Judiciary Committee last week, Petersen admitted that he had been present for fewer than five depositions, had never presided over a jury trial and had never argued a motion in state or federal court.
