The Pentagon has confirmed that unmanned air strikes were conducted against the target responsible for planning the suicide bombing attack at the Kabul airport.
A statement was released from U.S. Central Command:
“US military forces conducted an over-the-horizon counterterrorism operation today against an ISIS-K planner. The unmanned airstrike occurred in the Nangahar Province of Afghanistan. Initial indications are that we killed the target. We know of no civilian casualties,” the statement said.
The attack at the airport killed 13 U.S. military personnel and as many as 170 civilians.
