Loose lips at the dentist’s office landed a January 6 insurrectionist in a heap of trouble.

Daniel Warmus, of Alden, NY, bragged about his role in the violent siege while he was getting his teeth cleaned on January 12th. Warmus played a video he took inside the Capitol and said he had smoked marijuana there. He said he ignored police when they told him to exit.

Another patient overheard the remarks and reached out to the FBI. Investigators were able to find surveillance footage of Warmus in the Capitol wearing a “CNN is fake news” sweatshirt and a pro-Trump hat. A subsequent examination of his phone records confirmed that he was in Washington D.C. that day, although authorities were unable to substantiate his claim that he got high in the Capitol.

Warmus was arrested Tuesday in Buffalo. According to The Washington Post, “he’s been charged with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building without lawful authority and knowingly and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of government business.”

Warmus is one of over 400 individuals arrested in connection with the January 6 riots.

On Tuesday, Albert Watkins, the lawyer for Jacob Anthony Chansley, the so-called ‘QAnon Shaman,’ told Talking Points Memo that many of the rioters were manipulated by Donald Trump’s election lies. “These are people with brain damage,” Watkins said “These aren’t bad people.”
