We’ve slowly been seeing signs that Donald Trump’s planned summit with Kim Jong-Un may be in jeopardy. Now the clearest signal yet comes from the President himself. Tuesday during a question and answer session with South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in, Trump said: “there’s a very strong chance it won’t work out.”

CNN reports:

“It was the clearest indication to date that the audacious summit Trump agreed to in March may be at risk. Last week, North Korea adopted a harsh new tone and threatened to withdraw from the meeting, which is due to occur in Singapore.
Trump said preparations were “moving along” for the talks with Kim, but suggested there may not be enough time for the two sides to agree on mutually agreeable parameters.”

The Hill points out:

“Moon said the ‘fate and the future’ of the Korean Peninsula depend on the talks. South Korea has urged Trump to resolve the nuclear crisis with Kim through talks.

But North Korea threw the nuclear summit into doubt last week when it scrapped high-level talks with South Korea and threatened to pull out of the talks with Trump if the U.S. continues to demand denuclearization.”
