New York investigators are turning the heat up on former President Trump and his family business, and one key figure in the Trump universe is now on the hot seat.
State Attorney General Letitia James has collected seven boxes of financial records from the office of Allen Weisselberg, the longtime chief financial officer of the Trump Organization. According to The Washington Post, Manhattan D.A. Cy Vance is also targeting Weisselberg’s financial dealings.
Long considered to be an indispensable player in Trump’s business dealings, the attention on Weisselberg by authorities would seem to indicate prosecutors think he could be vulnerable, and possible to “flip” against his old boss. Weisselberg’s former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Weisselberg, told the Post that state investigators grabbed the financial records from the Trump CFO back in November.
She also said James’s office wanted records about two Trump Organization-controlled apartments where Weisselberg said she and her ex-husband had lived rent-free. Barry Weisselberg was a Trump employee at the time.
