Trump Criticized For Mocking 16-Year-Old Greta Thunberg

Welcome

NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 23: Youth activist Greta Thunberg (R) speaks at the Climate Action Summit at the United Nations on September 23, 2019 in New York City. While the United States will not be participating, China and about 70 other countries are expected to make announcements concerning climate change. The summit at the U.N. comes after a worldwide Youth Climate Strike on Friday, which saw millions of young people around the world demanding action to address the climate crisis. Perhaps Donald Trump is jealous a 16-year-old climate change activist may actually win the Nobel Peace Prize he desires. Or perhaps Trump is upset that Greta Thunberg is upstaging him at the United Nations General Assembly. Whatever it is, the president decided to mock Thunberg, as he commented on a video of her from the United Nations General Assembly.

CNN’s Chris Cillizza wrote:

Unfortunately, it’s not at all surprising that Trump saw fit to make fun of Thunberg’s passion and emotion. This is who he is — a schoolyard bully who doesn’t differentiate between a 16-year-old girl and Joe Biden. Or a Gold Star family. Or a prisoner of war. Or white nationalists and those protesting their ideology of hate.

Meanwhile, Thunberg didn’t reply to Trump’s comment, but perhaps she did something even better. Check out her Twitter profile. She changed her bio to read, “A very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future.”

Meanwhile, Trump isn’t the only adult Conservative male mocking Thunberg. While recognizing that Trump’s response “was entirely predictable in its undisguised derision,” Trump media ally Piers Morgan also felt it was okay to attack Thunberg calling her a “young drama queen who should go back to school and stop terrifying a generation of kids.”

Then there’s Trump’s network, Fox News. Conservative commentator Michael Knowles went even lower during a segment on Thunberg. The Trump sycophant dismissed her as “a mentally ill Swedish child.” Fox actually agreed it was inappropriate and issued an apology.
