Students Return To Parkland High School

Welcome

PARKLAND, FL - FEBRUARY 28: Students walk to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as they attend classes for the first time since the shooting that killed 17 people on February 14 at the school on February 28, 2018 in Parkland, Florida. Two weeks after the deadly rampage, doors were open again this morning at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.  One student called the experience “odd but calming.”

The students first observed 17 seconds of silence, one for each victim of the shooting.

Then they went about their school day, each class lasting only half an hour.  The school day ended before noon.

Matt Deitsch tweeted a poem he asked everyone to read.  It’s written by his sister, Samantha, a student at the school.  Her birthday was February 14, the day of the shooting.
