Their was one brief moment of bipartisanship in the Senate on Friday. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said the Senate would be awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to officer Eugene Goodman, the Capitol Hill police officer who steered rioters away from the Senate chamber on January 6th. Goodman was in the chamber when Schumer praised the officer’s courage.

The bill passed the Senate unanimously. It now goes to the House. New video this week showed Goodman also steered Sen. Mitt Romney away from advancing rioters. Other Capitol Police and law enforcement officers involved in defending the building will also receive the gold medal, the highest award Congress give.
