Yes, Donald Trump promised not to cut the social safety net but Paul Ryan didn’t get the memo. The Washington Post says Speaker Ryan and the Republicans plan to target welfare, medicare and medicaid spending next year. Try to wrap your head around this: the GOP controlled Congress passes a tax cut that raises the deficit by over a trillion dollars, but before the ink is dry on that bill, Republicans want to reduce the deficit they just helped create on the backs of the poor and elderly.
