On the same day that House Republicans on the Intel panel said there was no evidence of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign, a much different story is emerging from The Justice Department.

This reaction from a CNN analyst perfectly sums up what a lot of people are saying.

And it looks like Mudd isn’t alone in thinking this conclusion was reached too soon. In an exclusive interview with USA Today, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said he sees no reason to stop the investigation or fire Robert Mueller. Key quotes:

“The special counsel is not an unguided missile. I don’t believe there is any justification at this point for terminating the special counsel.”

“I believe much of the criticism will fall by the wayside when people reflect on this era and the Department of Justice,” said Rosenstein, who did not refer to Trump directly. “I’m very confident that when the history of this era is written, it will reflect that the department was operated with integrity.”
