The rationale for the Trump administration to assassinate a foreign government official has been that Iranian General Qasem Soleimani was planning an imminent attack on American interests. The question has been just how imminent.

This morning on Fox News, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo did little to silence the skeptics with these words of wisdom.

“There is no doubt that there were a series of imminent attacks being plotted by Qasem Soleimani. We don’t know precisely when and we don’t know precisely where, but it was real.”
