It was a late-night gift from Donald Trump to Joe Biden. At a campaign appearance in Florida, Trump hinted he would see to it that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading epidemiologist, and hugely popular font of accurate information on the pandemic, would be fired after the election.

Joe Biden took note of the Trump’s words at his own campaign event on Monday in Cleveland, Ohio.

“Last night, Trump said he was going to fire Dr. Fauci. Isn’t that wonderful? I have a better idea… elect me and I’m going to hire Dr. Fauci. And, we’re going to fire Donald Trump!”
