While President Biden is undoing many of his predecessors deeds, the U.S. Postal Service remains under the command of Trump loyalist Louis DeJoy. How bad is the Post Office under DeJoy? The Washington Post writes:

“DeJoy’s summer overhaul hobbled long-held delivery protocols and jettisoned hundreds of sorting machines just as the pandemic was flattening its staff.”

Much of the disarray at the post office played out during the mail-in voting process and then spilled into the holiday delivery season. It was a stunning drop in delivery times over the course of just a few months.

Today the group Citizens for Ethics wrote, “Louis DeJoy wrecked the US Postal Service to try to rig the election for Donald Trump. He failed. But the mail is still broken, and he’s still in charge of it. Fire DeJoy.”

It isn’t quite that easy to get rid of DeJoy, but it can be done. The Washington Post points out that “Congressional Democrats are pressing President Biden to install new board members, creating a majority bloc that could oust DeJoy.”

The USA Today adds:

The board members Trump named certainly sat idle while DeJoy’s incompetence dragged down agency performance in the middle of a pandemic.

By statute, board members are pledged to “represent the public interest.” That hasn’t happened. Moving them out, and DeJoy thereafter, would truly serve the public interest.

Whatever happens though, change won’t come overnight. Since the whole board needs to be overhauled, this process could take months.
