It’s official. The U.S. Embassy in Israel has relocated to Jerusalem. Jared Kushner led the delegation at the opening.

It was a different picture in Gaza where Palestinians are outraged. Israeli troops opened fire on Palestinian protesters who reportedly tried to storm the border crossings leading to Israel. It has been the worst day of violence in four years.

Donald Trump made campaign promises of middle east peace and the embassy relocation. The former seems less likely than ever.

Israeli soldiers dropped leaflets amongst the demonstrators, urging them to give up their fight. “Save your lives and work on building your futures,” they said. The Washington Post expects that the riots will peak on Tuesday, which marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of Israel. The Palestinians call this day Nakba Day, or Day of the Catastrophe.
